Built in 1941, the Birwood Wall was constructed to separate a Black neighborhood from a proposed white housing development. Decades later, the wall still stands not just as concrete, but as a reminder of Detroit’s history.

This project was created after visiting the wall, documenting the site, and learning more about the story behind it.
